VW Special Edition Models: Undeniable Allure

The 2018 VW Beetle Coast Special Edition is a nostalgist’s dream, hearkening back to the days when VW Beetle models lined beachfronts everywhere. This super-sleek car integrates a surfboard wood-look dash pad, along with a retro-style Kaeferfach (“beetle-bin”) glove box and two-tone black/beige “Pepita” cloth seats.

This latest special edition has inspired us to look back on other Volkswagen Beetle Special Editions from years past, many of which can still be purchased by VW lovers seeking a unique Volkswagen Beetle near Towson, MD.

2017 Volkswagen #PinkBeetle

This unforgettable (and not just because it debuted last year) VW model accomplished two firsts: it’s the only VW Beetle to sport Fresh Fuchsia Metallic pink paint, and it’s the first vehicle to include a hashtag in its name.

2016 Volkswagen Beetle Denim

If you dig the 80s you’ll flip for this totally tubular VW Beetle and its unique denim-look sport seats, Denim Blue convertible top, and unique Stonewashed Blue exterior color option.

2004 Golf R32

Ok, so this isn’t a VW Beetle, but we had to include this special edition on our list because it’s more or less the prototype for the multi-award-winning Volkswagen Golf R. It sports twin exhausts, a lower suspension, a larger front spoiler, and the coup de grâce: a 3.2L VR6 engine that outputs 240hp and propels the 2004 VW Golf R32 from 0 - 60 in a paltry 6.2 seconds.

1971 VW Beetle GSR

GSR (Gelb-Schwarzer Renner) is German for “Yellow-Black Racer”, and this car is just that. Sold in the US as the VW Super Beetle Sports Bug, it was reintroduced in 2014 with racing stripes.
